Creating a sense of place

Art Eye was approached to research, source and commission a scheme of art for the Budock Vean Holiday Lodges, Helford River, Cornwall.

Down a winding road, perfectly positioned in beautiful gardens by the mouth of the Helford river, sit the stunning new Budock Vean Lodges. With 12 lodges planned in total, hotel owner Martin Barlow has put together a team of designers and builders, led by RTP Surveyors and Architectural Interior Design Firm 3iDog, also including Nova Construction and Art Eye.

Working collaboratively, Art Eye has brought together a well-considered art scheme, which inspires some beautiful ‘moments of contemplation’ for those staying there. The scheme is a mini art-collection in itself — tying-in perfectly with the interior-design style of the space, the surrounding garden and coastal vistas, the elemental colour-palette and textures — carefully representing highly-collectible examples of the local and national art scene. All pieces have been presented in a contemporary Cornish style, with hand-painted & lime-waxed frames, by our wonderful Falmouth-based framers Eat Art.

Art Works include: original silkscreen prints by Amy Lanyon (the very talented Granddaughter of world-famous Cornish artist Peter Lanyon); woodcut and silkscreen prints by renowned artist and designer Angie Lewin; limited edition silkscreen prints by London-based artist Clare Halifax; and also several signed prints by Cornwall-based artist Jen Larkin, whose work is inspired by long-distance walks along the South West Coast Path.
