Art for a private island stay

Unique Home Stays create holiday properties that are truly individual and breath-taking; 'wow factor' properties that simply can’t be found elsewhere. Art Eye was approached to source engaging art pieces which would not only amplify the interior design concept of The House in the Sea, but also reflect upon the awesome property location & local fishing industry history.

After an 8-month interior re-modelling project, the results at The House in the Sea were simply breathtaking: a re-imagined pallet of greys and chalky whites evokes thoughts of dramatic Cornish granite outcrops and windswept walks, whilst the cool New York vibe — where the property owners live and work — adds an apt, stylish flourish. And this relaxing, 'cool but contemplative' sense of style was also applied to the art.

As a result of detailed chats between the owners, Jess and Art Eye's Creative Director Jen Larkin; Cornish artist James Eddy was commissioned to create a stunning 1m-diameter aluminium ‘fish shoal’ wall sculpture for the main bedroom. This project really sparked something off, getting lots of press interest from the beautiful interior design photoshoots, featuring James' work in situ. Art Eye have since commissioned James to produce many of these stunning pieces of art for private clients across the UK, including The Sail Loft Restaurant, on St Michael's Mount - another magical Cornish island location.
